Niagara Research and Planning Council Leads Evaluation of the Niagara Age Friendly Community Initiative
The Niagara Age Friendly Community Initiative (NAFCI) is lead by community partners including the Rose City Seniors Foundation, Niagara Region, City of Welland, the Welland Senior Citizens Advisory Committee, and the Niagara Research and Planning Council.
With funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the 3-year NAFCI project was piloted in Welland. Next the project will facilitate formation of local age-friendly action committees in municipalities throughout Niagara. Local volunteers will help to raise awareness of age-friendly principles in their community.
The Niagara Research and Planning Council is implementing evaluation for the project. Reporting on the NAFCI experience will assist other groups preparing to launch age-friendly initiatives in their area.
